Spring Performing Arts
There are lots of opportunities for children to engage with the performing arts at school. We have a newly formed Dance Club in Reception & Key Stage One running currently, along with lots of instrumental and singing tuition happening during the week. Children in Key Stage 2 also have “Show Choir” in the spring term and Dance Club in the summer term for Year 3/4. We provide many performance opportunities for children in our music celebration assemblies, and in Key Stage Productions. Coming up this Spring, we have a performance from Lower Key Stage Two, and a Spring Recital for some of our Dancers and Musicians.
If your child wishes to start a club, or a musical instrument, please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Dunn or your child’s class teacher.
Have a look at some pictures below for an insight into what goes on in some of our clubs!
Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival 2018
Once again, Dunnington’s Dance Club put on an incredible show at this year’s YSDF18. Children from Year 5/6 performed their piece ‘Changing Planet Earth’ to a mix of African music and the theme from David Attenborough’s ‘Planet Earth’. They did us proud!
Young Voices 2018
Year 6 had a great time at Young Voices this year. We had a great day singing and dancing our hearts out to top tunes from artists like Stevie Wonder and Ed Sheeran. Did you spot us in the crowd?

Performing Arts Day 2017
Recently, the whole school had the chance to try lots of different performing arts activities. Everybody worked in mixed-age classes and moved around the school trying out different lessons linked to the performing arts. The activities included dance, drama, percussion playing, learning the ukulele, shadow puppets, mask design, stop-motion film making, musical theatre and magic! Have a look at what we got up to…
Recently our Dance Club performed at the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival with hundreds of children from other schools. The theme was ‘Going Global’, and we enjoyed watching the routines other schools had put together. Our dance was titled ‘World Beats’ and used music and dance inspired by Africa, samba drum beats, and Ireland.
During our music celebration assembly, we enjoyed watching a lot of performers showing a range of different musical skills. Well done to all the musicians and dancers who performed!
The Bossy Christmas Fairy – what a show!
Year 5 and 6 presented a magical performance of The Wizard of Oz!
