Spring Performing Arts

There are lots of opportunities for children to engage with the performing arts at school. We have a newly formed Ballet Club in Reception & Key Stage One running currently, along with lots of instrumental and singing tuition happening during the week. Children also have performance opportunities in our music celebration assemblies, and in Key Stage Productions. Coming up this Spring, we have a performance from Lower Key Stage Two, and a Spring Recital for our Dancers and Musicians.

If your child wishes to start a club, or a musical instrument, please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Dunn or your child’s class teacher.

Have a look at some pictures below for an insight into what goes on in some of our clubs!

Performing Arts Day 2017

Recently, the whole school had the chance to try lots of different performing arts activities. Everybody worked in mixed-age classes and moved around the school trying out different lessons linked to the performing arts. The activities included dance, drama, percussion playing, learning the ukulele, shadow puppets, mask design, stop-motion film making, musical theatre and magic! Have a look at what we got up to…

Recently our Dance Club performed at the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival with hundreds of children from other schools. The theme was ‘Going Global’, and we enjoyed watching the routines other schools had put together. Our dance was titled ‘World Beats’ and used music and dance inspired by Africa, samba drum beats, and Ireland.

During our music celebration assembly, we enjoyed watching a lot of performers showing a range of different musical skills. Well done to all the musicians and dancers who performed!

The Bossy Christmas Fairy – what a show!

Year 5 and 6 presented a magical performance of The Wizard of Oz!

Our choir at the 2015 “Carols by Candlelight”

There are music clubs, including the choir, recorder club and school band.

We love drama!  The children in Mrs Todd and Mrs Jones’ class had a great time in their drama workshop.

Year 2 loved learning some new dance skills in this workshop.
