Our Learning

Over the Summer term, children in Year 3 and 4 will be looking at British History as their History topic, particularly focusing on York and its delicious Chocolate story! In Science, children will be exploring electricity and investigating what our skeletons and muscles look like and how they work. In Maths, Teachers will be concentrating on developing children’s knowledge and key skills across all the four main Maths areas: Number, Measurement, Geometry and Statistics. In English, children will be exploring a range of exciting and engaging genres including: Adventure stories, Discussion texts and Persuasive Texts.. I wonder what the children will try to persuade the Teachers to let them do in their lessons! Towards the end of the term, children will be given a chance to become mini Teachers by planning their own lessons in groups, to teach their class. Alongside the English genres, Teachers will continue to build upon children’s understating of Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation (SPaG). In Art, pupils will be creating an artist study, focusing on Georgia O’Keeffe, with children learning how to blend colour correctly to change the tone. The Summer term is an inspiring and engaging term that includes lots of exciting lessons and experiences for the children. We also have lots of enrichment activities including swimming and a range of P.E specialist who are delivering a variety of skills to pupils, including cricket and golf. Towards the end of the term, children will be taking part in a trip to visit the Local History in York, a trip that I am sure all the children will love! It will certainly be a busy term.
