All children can start school in the September before their 5th birthday. You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school by the 15th of January in the school year your child turns 4. For entry in the September 2019 school year, children will have been born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015. Later start dates are possible and can be discussed with the headteacher.
Every June, a meeting is held for parents of children due to start in the following September. The children are also invited to spend several afternoons in school prior to starting school. If you would like a pre-admission visit, please telephone 01904 552910 and make an appointment. The headteacher or administrator will be pleased to show you around.
As a voluntary controlled school, our admissions arrangements were set by City of York Council, as the admissions authority for our school. Details of the admissions policies that apply can be found here. The Admission Policy which applies for entry to Dunnington CEP School in September 2019, which was determined prior to becoming part of the Multi Academy Trust, is the City of York Council’s “Community and Voluntary Controlled Primary and Infant Schools for Reception entry 2019-2020“. Our PAN (Proposed Admission Number) is 30.

Following the conversion to academy status the South York Multi Academy Trust becomes our admissions authority from September 2020. This year’s Admissions Consultation is being jointly held by all admissions authorities in the City of York between 08 October and 07 December 2018. The consultation includes the admissions policies and planned number of places available at each school in the year(s) of entry.
The views of parent/carers, schools and other interested parties are being sought during this consultation. To respond, you can write to us, email email@example.com or complete this short survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/admissionsconsultation2020
Following the consultation, each admission authority will formally set (‘determine’) their admission arrangements for admission in 2020/21 by 28 February 2019. Determined policies will be on all admissions authorities own websites by 15 March 2019 after which objections can be raised. The documents found below at this stage are in their draft (pre-determined) form.
