We are looking for 4 new Trustees to join the Board of our Multi-Academy Trust – South York Multi-Academy Trust (SYMAT) – to shape the next phase of our journey and to inspire our children and young people to achieve and flourish.
We offer you the chance to work with our other skilled and motivated Trustees and School staff in contributing to the local community and helping to transform and improve the lives and life chances of those within it.
What are we looking for?
Our Trustees are recruited on their skills and experience to enhance and complement the existing skills set of our Board and to ensure diversity of representation.
To support our current and future growth we would particularly welcome applications from those with skills and experience in:
- Risk management
- Human Resources
- H & S / Premises Management
We welcome new Trustees with diverse skills and experience to share our work to support each and every child and young person in our community to lead a happy and successful life.
As a Board Member, you will ensure that we uphold our charitable purpose and objectives; work in line with our vision, aims and organisational objectives and that we provide strong and effective strategic leadership of the Trust for all those in the community it serves.
We seek individuals with a passion for education and for enabling children and young people to shape their future and to contribute positively to wider society.
Reasonable travel expenses are payable, and the approximate time commitment is eight 2 hour evening meetings a year, an annual strategy away day normally held in September, plus some time supporting the Board’s activities and developments through the course of the year.
Our unique Trust stems from over twenty years of collaborative working and partnership between the current Trust members and the schools set to join the Trust. Our work is characterised by a commitment to inclusion and maximising the potential for all children, young people and families in our communities, knowing that the collective strength and effectiveness of our Trust will improve the opportunities and standards for all within our schools.
The South York Multi-Academy Trust is rooted in trust and respect where the ethos and distinctive identity of all our schools is celebrated, respected and actively promoted. This is reflected in the nature of our membership where Church of England Primary Schools in Dunnington and Wheldrake, and Archbishop of York Junior School in Bishopthorpe, work alongside the community provision in Fulford Secondary School. Our current membership and growth plans exemplify our work to develop outstanding primary, secondary, junior school and specialist provision across the 5-18 age range within York and its surrounding area.
